Our history
From East Fremantle to the Melville Mariners
The founding of East Fremantle Tee-Ball Club – now known as the Melville Mariners Ball Club Inc. – can be traced back to the early 1980s. Born out of a passion to provide a fun and engaging sports program for local kids, a small group of dedicated parents and community members came together to create a welcoming space where children could learn, play and make friends.
The founding members worked tirelessly to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where children could learn the fundamentals of baseball while having fun. Their vision still guides us today.
We focus on fun, fair play, fundamental skills and family involvement – making sure every kid feels included and supported.
The four F's
Our club philosophy emphasises that children should have a fun and positive experience, focusing on enjoyment rather than competitive pressure.
Fun
Every activity is intended to be played in the spirit of Tee-Ball – keeping kids excited to come back each week.
Fair play
Teaching respect, teamwork and good sportsmanship on and off the field.
Fundamental skills
Developing confidence through age-appropriate coaching, with positions and batting lineups rotated weekly.
Family involvement
Parents, carers and volunteers are the backbone of our club – from coaching and umpiring to canteen and scoring.
